PUNTA DE MITA, and in particular  EL ANCLOTE BEACH at the end of the road to Punta de Mita is one of the best places in the world for learning to surf. For beginners or first timers, the gentle waves and friendly local surfers can make your experience a fun safe and enjoyable one.

Surfboards are available to rent for about $50. pesos an hour. You can also book a private lesson from one of the various teaching companies that work in that area. A highly recommended teacher is Kimmie. She is an ex-pat living there and has a great deal of knowledge about the area. Telephone her at 329-291-6475.

Remember it is recommended you start learning to surf on a long board, so don't be surprised at the length of your first rental one. Surfing is safe, fun and  great exercise.
